Project Recipe
For your card you will need these layers.
You will also need these 4 pieces, cut from the layering circles dies, or using any appropriate dies or punches that you have as long as you have a larger piece that layer together and a smaller piece that does the same.
You will also need to cut out these pieces from the Hippo Dies using white cardstock. Then you can colour them in any colour you want using your Stampin' Blends. Alternatively you can cut them out from coloured cardstock if you wish. I prefer to use white and then colour in using my blends.
Stamp your hippo stamp on the larger white circle die. Colour in the hippo with gray granite stampin' blends. Do the same with the tub. Use the colour lifter to remove any colour where you want a lighter hue to create shading.
Glue all the pieces from step 3 and 4 to create your front circle element. It should look like this. You can see the shading on the tub that was mentioned in step 6.This shading creates depth and dimension on your final piece.
Now you need to cut out an opening on your patterned paper for your pull tab. I draw a long rectangle shape and coloured it in with pencil so I know what to cut out. I just used an X-acto knife to make a slit then use my paper snips to cut out the full shaded shape. You can make an estimate of where you want the cut out to be by looking at the finished card on the left of the picture. You want your opening behind the layered circle and be wider than your pull tab which is 1" in width.
Score the pull tab at 1 3/4 and 2", then add glue only to the 1 3/4 portion, marked with the X in the picture. Adhere the smaller circle, stamped with whatever sentiment you want and then layered onto the scalloped circle, onto the glued portion of the pull tab.
Add glue to the smaller 1/2" portion of your pull tab and glue the larger circle die to just that portion of the pull tab. It should cover the smaller circle entirely when glued.
This is what the back of the pull tab should look like with both circle pieces glued to it. The smaller circle is glued to the larger portion that measures 1 3/4 and the larger circle is glued to the smaller portion that measure 1/2".
Now turn the pull tab over and add glue just to the portion beside the pull tab, on the smaller circle, marked in pencil here. Make sure that no glue touches the pull tab.
Slide the pull tab into the slit on the patterned paper and pull it through far enough so that the circle layers can be positioned and glued to the center of the patterned paper.
When glued down to the patterned paper, it should look like this.
Turn the patterned paper and add glue to the back, making sure you get no glue anywhere near the pull tab.
Glue the patterned paper with the pull tab and layered circles onto your base card. Trim the end of the pull tab that extends over the edge of the card to the length you desire and write "PULL" with any black marker on it. If you want, you can use a corner rounder to round out the corners,
When you pull the tab, the top circle will pull open to reveal the bottom circle with the message.
This is what it will look like fully opened.
