T
hese are the hobby horse and Christmas stocking that were my crafts for Christmas 2011.
Yours will not look like these. All the materials shown are no longer available to me.
However, you can have a lot of fun creating something very similar!
Project Recipe
Your kit.
Inside your kit is chipboard cut with the stocking die. This chipboard is the base for the hobby horse / pony. The hobby horse is 2 sided. The toe is for the ears, the heel is for the pony’s nose. I didn’t use the chipboard heel. I did use the the ear so it would stand up.
This card stock is one example of what you may find in your kit. There are greens, blues, and browns.
I tried to find coordinating colors of ribbon for the card stock. This kit has purple ribbon, hot pink ribbon, and some purple novelty ribbon.
The orange brads were the closest color that I could find. You most certainly can substitute what you have at home.
I was thinking that you could use needle and thread to gather up the ribbon for the mane. Adhere the mane to the chipboard. Let dry. Then adhere card stock to both sides of the pony. Let dry.
The ribbon for the rein and bridle will need to be cut — a piece for around the nose and then the rein. Wrap the ribbon around the nose cut the ribbon so that it meets on the other side. Glue the ribbon. Some of the orange ribbon has double sided tape that you can use rather than glue. While the glue is still a little wet, use a paper piercing tool to put a small hole In both pieces of ribbon to attach the reins. I used a long tack. My punch couldn’t cut the ribbon. Attach brads and let glue dry. Wash glue off your hands.
Attach ears and eyes.
The stocking. Adhere top, toes, and heels.
You can punch a hole in the top of the stocking. Use ribbon, baker’s twine, thread to make a hanger.
Ready for your Christmas tree!
The most important part is to have fun! I would love to see what you have created.
