Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Poppy Parade Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pacific Point Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 5" of red, black, blue, gray, and white plaid design from Well Suited Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" of blue and white diamond flowers on checkered red background design from Well Suited Designer Series Paper
- 1" x 3-1/4" from Poppy Parade Cardstock
- scrap of Basic White Cardstock
Insert the Pacific Point rectancle into the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. Use the line printed on the front flap of the folder to make sure it is lined up straight. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Pacific Point rectangle to the front of the Poppy Parade card.
Adhere the long plaid strip of Well Suited Designer Paper to the left side of the card so about 1/8" of blue shows on the top, left, and bottom edges.
As you are ready to stamp using the Turtle Friends Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "you are turtle-y loved" or "happy birthday!" sentiment from the Turtle Friends Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Poppy Parade strip.
Pick out the skinny, pointed ends, label die from the Potted Succulents Dies. Put it on top of the stamped Poppy Parade strip on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Adhere the sentiment label cut out to the front of the card so the bottom is about 7/8" from the bottom of the card and the right point is about 1/2" from the right side of the card.
Mount the large turtle outline image from the Turtle Friends Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the strip of white cardstock, leaving room to punch the image out. Leave the stamp on the block.
Unlock the Turtle Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped turtle on the white cardstock into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch. Keep the scrap of white cardstock to use in a later step.
Put the punched out turtle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark Night Of Navy Stampin' Blends to color in the turtle's nails.
Use the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the turtle's head, neck, legs, and tail.
You can leave the shell uncolored as it will be covered by designer paper in a later step.
Re-ink the large turtle outline image on Block D with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the small rectangle of Well Suited Designer Paper so you get the shell.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the shell stamped on the designer paper by hand.
Adhere the designer paper shell to the colored turtle's back.
Adhere the colored and paper pieced turtle punch out to the front of the card so his feet just overlap the top of the sentiment label cut out on the left side as shown.
Mount the small bow tie image from the Turtle Friends Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Poppy Parade Ink Pad. Stamp it on the scrap of Basic White Cardstock.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the bow tie image by hand.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the cut out bow tie to the turtle's neck.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 4 Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels from the sheet making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere one of the rhinestones to the center of the bow tie. Adhere the other 3 rhinestones in a rough triangle in the upper right corner of the card.
