I nteractive card where the pinata spins when wound up made with Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Melon Mambo Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Mango Melody Cardstock
- 3-1/4" square from Polished Pink Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 2" x 2-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 4-1/4" from Polished Pink Cardstock
- 1" x 4-1/4" from Mango Melody Cardstock
- 1" x 4-1/4" from Melon Mambo Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Taco Fiesta Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the grouping of candy and confetti image from the Taco Fiesta Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Melon Mambo Ink Pad. Stamp it randomly all over the top 2/3 of the vertical Mango Melody rectangle. Change the orientation of the stamp a little each time. Stamp some of the images without re-inking. Let some of the images go off the top, left, and right edges.
Pick out the smooth circle die from the Layering Circles Dies that cuts out a circle that is 2-3/8" in diameter. Put it on top of the stamped Mango Melody rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered side to side and is about 3/4" from the top edge. Run through the machine. Leave the die out.
Note: You are using the large Mango Melody rectangle with a circle cut out of the top for this project. You can keep the solid circle cut out for use on another project or recycle it.
Place the Mango Melody rectangle with the circle cut out of the top on the front of the Melon Mambo card WITHOUT ADHERING! Get it centered on the card front.
Use a pencil to draw on the Melon Mambo card front along the edge of the circle cut out in the Mango Melody rectangle.
Put the smooth circle die on top of the Melon Mambo card front on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the pencil circle drawn on the card front. Run through the machine. Leave the die out.
Note: You are using the Melon Mambo card with a circle cut out of the front for this project. You can keep the solid circle cut out for use on another project or recycle it.
Pick out the scalloped circle die from the Layering Circles Dies that cuts out a scalloped circle that is 2-7/8" in diameter. Put it on top of the Polished Pink square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Place the smooth circle die inside the scalloped circle die so it is centered. Run through the machine.
Note: You are using the scalloped, open Polished Pink circle cut out for this project. You can keep the solid circle cut out for use on another project or recycle it.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the Polished Pink scalloped, open circle cut out to the Mango Melody rectangle so it frames the circle cut into the Mango Melody rectangle.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut a fringe along one long edge of each of the Polished Pink, Mango Melody, and Melon Mambo strips. Make sure NOT to cut all the way through the strips, but leave about 1/4" along the top long edge of each strip uncut.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the 1/4" solid strip along the top of the Polished Pink fringed strip to adhere it to the bottom of the Mango Melody rectangle so the bottom of the fringe is even with the bottom of the rectangle. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off any excess on the left and right edges.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the 1/4" solid strip along the top of the Mango Melody fringed strip to adhere it to the bottom of the Mango Melody rectangle so the bottom of the fringe is about 3/8" from the bottom of the rectangle. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off any excess on the left and right edges.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the 1/4" solid strip along the top of the Melon Mambo fringed strip to adhere it to the bottom of the Mango Melody rectangle so the bottom of the fringe is about 3/4" from the bottom of the rectangle and the top solid edge is just under the scalloped circle cut out framing the circle cut into the rectangle. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off any excess on the left and right edges.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the layered Mango Melody rectangle so it covers the seam between the Mango Melody rectangle and the top of the Melon Mambo fringed strip. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ends of the ribbon in place with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive. LEAVE THE PROTECTIVE BACKINGS IN PLACE FOR NOW!
Place the Stamparatus in front of you with the open sides of the Stamparatus on the left and bottom. Insert one hinged plate into the Stamparatus on the right side so it is in the topmost hinge space. Put the Stamparatus Deluxe Foam Mat on the base of the Stamparatus. Put the Silicone Craft Sheet on the base of the Stamparatus.
Place one of the 2" x 2-1/2" white rectangles on the base of the Stamparatus so the cardstock is horizontal.
Pick out the pinata image from the Taco Fiesta Set. Place the stamp rubber side down on the cardstock on the Stamparatus base so that it is centered on the white rectangle. Close the plate on the Stamparatus and press firmly so the stamp sticks to the plate. Open the plate.
Ink up the stamp on the plate using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. If you get excess ink on the plate, you can wipe it off with a baby wipe or tissue. Close the plate onto the cardstock on the Stamparatus base and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Tip: Slide a Clear-Mount Stamp Case under the plate before inking up the stamp. This gives you a firm, flat surface to push against making it easier to ink up the stamp.
Remove the stamped cardstock from the Stamparatus. Leave everything else in place for now.

Carefully place the other white rectangle on top of the image stamped on the Silicone Craft Sheet on the Stamparatus. Close the plate of the Stamparatus onto the base and press firmly. Carefully remove the cardstock.
The image stamped on the Silicone Craft Sheet should have transferred to the cardstock so you have a mirror image!
Cut out both pinata images by hand using Paper Snips Scissors. Make sure you cut out a regular image with the pinata facing left and a mirror image with a pinata facing right.
Use the Polished Pink, Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Markers to color in the details of the pinata cut outs as shown. Leave most of the pinatas white. Make sure you use the same colors in the same areas of the two cut outs so they match.
Cut a 4" piece of the Pumpkin Pie twine from the Three Twine Combo Pack.
Put a piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of one of your colored and cut out pinatas so it is horizontal. Remove the protective backing. Lay the twine vertically across the pinata so the pinata is centered on the twine.
Use more Tear & Tape Adhesive and Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the other colored and cut out pinata to the back of the first pinata sandwiching the twine between them. Make sure the twine is as straight as possible and is vertical and the pinatas are in the center.
Put the stamped and layered Mango Melody rectangle with ribbon attached and a circle cut out of it upside down on your work surface.
Use a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere the top of the twine sandwiched between the pinatas to the back of the Mango Melody rectangle so the twine and pinata are centered in the hole cut into the Mango Melody rectangle.
Use a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere the bottom of the twine sandwiched between the pinatas to the back of the Mango Melody rectangle so the twine and pinata are centered in the hole cut into the Mango Melody rectangle.
Remove all the protective backings from the Tear & Tape Adhesive pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the Mango Melody rectangle. Adhere the Mango Melody rectangle to the front of the Melon Mambo card so it is centered over the hole cut into the card front.
Cut a 3" piece of the White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.
Slide the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card front in the center. Tie in place with a half knot. Trim the ends.
Gently spin the pinata around to twist up the twine. Let go and watch the pinata spin! If you twist the twine up before inserting the card into an envelope, the pinata should spin when the recipient pulls the card out of the envelope.
