H i Stampers! This week I thought I would focus on a technique...its called stained glass. It is so simple you will say, "Why didn't I think of that!". I also wanted to create a 3-D card and I really like how this turned out. So let's get started! I hope you like this card!
Project Recipe
Use Pool Party for your base card. Cut it to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4" and fold. I used actual burlap for this card, cut it about 3 3/4" x 5", then place it at a slight angle on the base card, and attach with glue dots or Tombow glue. Trim the excess burlap that is hanging off the sides of the card.
Cut a 1 1/2" x 4" strip of the Petal Passon DSP with flowers. Choose a section that highlights a flower. Now color the DSP using Stampin' Blends in the colors that you like. I used Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Real Red, both light and dark. When you finish coloring, attach the strip about a half inch from the left edge of the card.
Next to make the stained glass butterfly, take the vellum and using the butterfly stamp from the Beautiful Day set, stamp in Basic Black ink. Dust with clear embossing powder and emboss with your heat tool. Then color the vellum on both sides with the Stampin Blends pens. I used Pumpkin and Daffodil Delight. I find that going over it several times gives you more color and a more transparent look. When you are finished, fussy cut the butterfly out, and fold the wings up making sure the embossed side is up.
TIP: Use your bone folder when folding your Butterfly! Line it up with the body and fold the paper around the edge! Keeps it straight and is way easier!
Use the Leaf punch and cut out 4 in Old Olive. Fold each of the leaves in half so they look more 3-D. Glue the stems as shown in the photo. I put 3 of them sticking out from under the dsp, and one under the butterfly.
Cut out the word Amazing with the Celebrate You Thinlets in Burmuda Bay card stock. Take a length of Gold Metallic Thread, wrap it around your fingers several times until you get some loops. Use a glue dot to hold the thread in place under where you will put the butterfly. Have the loops cover the bottom right half of the card. Now glue the word Amazing down on the bottom right side of the card, its ok to go on top of the thread.
Next put glue dots on the body of the Butterfly and position it on the card with the wings folded up. To finish up the card, put a few Gold Faceted Gems as shown, and stamp a sentiment inside.
