F un fold Halloween card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and glitter paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2", then cut on front panel at 1-1/4" from right and left edges to score line in center of card
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 1" x 4" from Black Glitter Paper
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
If you haven't already done so, place the Pumpkin Pie card on your Paper Trimmer so you can cut from the open bottom of the card to the score line on the 1-1/4" line on the right side of the card. Repeat on the left side of the card. You should now have two skinny strips and one fat strip on the front of your card.
For the inside of the card, mount the "Have a hoot on Halloween" sentiment from the Have A Hoot Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" white horizontal rectangle.
Mount the "Boo!" sentiment from the Have A Hoot Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad. Stamp it near the upper left corner of the white rectangle as close to the left side as possible. Re-ink the stamp with the Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the white rectangle as close to the right side as possible.
Adhere the stamped white rectangle to the 4" x 5-1/4" Basic Black rectangle and then to the interior of the card.
Insert the 2-3/4" x 4" Basic Black rectangle into the Woodland Embossing Folder so the tree trunks will be vertical on the vertical rectangle. Place the folder with the paper inside on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine platform and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Basic Black rectangle to the center panel on the front of the Pumpkin Pie card.
Mount the vampire owl sitting on a branch image from the Have A Hoot Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on one end of the Whisper White strip. Leave room to punch it out.
Unlock the 2" Circle Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped vampire owl on a branch image into the punch and get it centered in the punching area so the moon is in the upper left of the circle and the owl is slightly to the right of center. You will punch off some of the branch on either side. Punch.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the designer paper that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the vampire owl on a branch circle punch out on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Dark and Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Markers to color in the owl's cape wings.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede Stampin' Blends Markers to color in the rest of the owl except for his eyes.
Use the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Marker to color in the owl's eyes.
Use the Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends Marker to color in the crescent moon.
Use the fine tip of the Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends Marker to color in the branch.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess color.
Unlock the 2-1/4" Circle Punch. Slide the strip of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock into the punch. Punch.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the 1-1/2" Metallic Mesh Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the center of the Pumpkin Pie circle punch out.
Put small strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the CENTER ONLY of the back of the colored vampire owl on a branch circle punch out.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape strips on the back of the owl circle punch out. Adhere the owl circle punch out to the top of the Pumpkin Pie circle punch out and ribbon piece so the owl circle is slightly off set to the right side (leaving a crescent of Pumpkin Pie showing around the left edge). VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure NO adhesive is showing on the back of the white circle punch out or it will stick to the front of your card and won't open properly.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the ribbon sandwiched between the layered circle punch outs on the front of the card so the circle punch outs are centered over the large center panel with the dry embossed black layer adhered to it. The sides of the ribbon should overlap the small Pumpkin Pie strips on either side of the card front just a bit.
Place a piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive vertically across each end of the ribbon in the center of each of the Pumpkin Pie strips on the sides of the card front. Remove the protective backings.
Use more Tear & Tape Adhesive on the backs of the strips of Black Glitter Paper to adhere the strips of Black Glitter Paper to the center of each of the thin Pumpkin Pie strips on either side of the card front. They should cover the Tear & Tape strips already holding the ends of the ribbon in place.
When the two panels on the sides of the card front with the ribbon sandwiched between them are open, the card will look like this.
Open the center front flap to reveal the rest of the message on the inside of the card.
