Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Real Red Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 5" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 4" x 5-1/4" of tiny pink hearts on red background design from Snail Mail Designer Series Paper
- scrap of tiny pink hearts on red background design from Snail Mail Designer Series Paper at least 2-1/4" square
- 2" x 3" from Real Red Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 5" from Basic White Cardstock
Pick out the square die from the Layering Squares Dies that cuts out a 2-7/8" square. Place the die on top of the white cardstock on the platform of your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered. Run through the machine. Keep the die out. Keep the square with a square cut out of it for use on this project. You can throw away the cut out square of cardstock or keep it to use on another project.
Place the 5" square of cardstock with a square cut out of the center back on platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Place the square die on top so it is evenly angled (making a diamond) across the previously cut out square. Run through the machine. Throw away the little triangles you cut out, but keep the 5" square with a large square 8-pointed star cut out of the center.
Carefully remove a magnet from the back of the Stamparatus.
Tip: To make it easier to grab the magnets and to help keep them from breaking if they snap together, wrap them in strips of washi tape or masking tape leaving folded over pieces to grab on to.
Place the Stamparatus in front of you with the open sides of the Stamparatus on the left and bottom. Insert one hinged plate into the Stamparatus on the right side so it is in the topmost hinge space. Put the Stamparatus Foam Mat on the base of the Stamparatus. Put a piece of Small Grid Paper on the foam mat on the base of the Stamparatus.
Place the 5" square with the star shape cut out of the center on the Stamparatus base pushing it as far as possible into the upper right corner. Secure the 5" square in place using the magnet.
Position the donkey with a rose image from the Darling Donkeys Set on the Stamparatus so the stamp is rubber side down and the head of the donkey is centered just above the bottom center point of the star cut into the 5" square. Make sure you aren't cutting off the donkeys lower ear or the rose or the donkey's lower lip. Close the plate onto the stamp and press firmly to make sure it is stuck to the plate.
Remove the 5" square with the star shape cut out from the Stamparatus.
Tip: Hang on to this template to use on future projects.
Place the white cardstock rectangle on the base of the Stamparatus so one short edge is against the top edge of the base and the left edge of the rectangle is on the 4-1/2" line marked on the Small Grid Paper. Use a magnet along the top of the cardstock to hold it in place.
Ink up the stamp on the plate using the Memento Pad. If you get excess ink on the plate, you can wipe it off with a baby wipe or tissue. Close the plate onto the white cardstock on the Stamparatus base and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Tip: Slide a Clear-Mount Stamp Case under the plate before inking up the stamp. This gives you a firm, flat surface to push against making it easier to ink up the stamp.
Remove the stamped white cardstock rectangle from the base of the Stamparatus. Turn it around and place it back on the base of the Stamparatus so the stamped short edge is against the top edge of the base and the left edge of the rectangle is on the 4-1/2" line marked on the Small Grid Paper. Use a magnet along the top of the cardstock to hold it in place.
Re-ink the stamp on the plate using the Memento Pad. If you get excess ink on the plate, you can wipe it off with a baby wipe or tissue. Close the plate onto the white cardstock on the Stamparatus base and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Remove the stamped white cardstock rectangle from the base of the Stamparatus. Give it a one quarter turn and place it back on the base of the Stamparatus so the stamped short edge on the right is against the right edge of the base and the long top edge of the rectangle is on the 1/2" line marked on the Small Grid Paper.
Turn it around and place it back on the base of the Stamparatus so the stamped short edge on the right is against the right edge of the base and the stamped, long top edge of the rectangle is on the 1/2" line marked on the Small Grid Paper.
Remove the stamped cardstock from the Stamparatus. You should now have a white rectangle with a donkey with rose image stamped on the top, bottom, left, and right edges and their heads and ears outlining a rough circle in the center of the rectangle.
Remove the donkey with rose image from the Stamparatus plate and mount it on Block D (you may have to angle it slightly to make it fit).
Re-ink the donkey with rose image on Block D with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the front of a Post-It Note near the top of the note where the sticky adhesive is on the back. Re-ink the stamp again and stamp it on the front of another Post-It Note near the top where the sticky adhesive is on the back.
Use Paper Snips to cut out the donkey with rose images stamped on the Post-It Notes by cutting just along the inside of the stamped lines You don't have to cut out the details of the bottoms of the donkeys, just their ears, heads, roses, and upper bodies.
Place the cut out Post-It Note donkeys over two of the donkeys already stamped on the white cardstock.
Re-ink the donkey with rose image on Block D with the Memento Pad. Stamp him in between the two donkeys with Post-It Note donkeys on them so his head and ears are even with their heads and ears.
Remove one of the Post-It Note donkey images and move it over to the next pre-stamped donkey without a Post-It Note. Re-ink the image on Block D and stamp it in between the next two donkeys. Continue until you've stamped donkeys in all four corners. Remove the Post-It Notes.
Put the circle of donkeys stamped white rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark and Light Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in the roses of the donkeys in the corners.
Use the Dark and Light Petal Pink Stampin' Blends to color in the roses of the remaining donkeys.
Use the Dark and Light Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends to color in the stems and leaves on the roses.
Use the Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends to color in the insides of the donkeys' ears.
Use the Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in any of the hooves that you can see.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede and Dark and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the donkeys in the corners. Leave their teeth white.
Use the Dark and Light Gray Granite and Dark and Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the donkeys. Leave their teeth white.
Use the Dark and Light Pool Party Stampin' Blends to color in the background. You don't have to color in most of the rough circle formed by the donkeys' heads and ears in the center as it will mostly be covered by the sentiment circles.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends if needed to remove excess color and to help blend the colors on the donkeys.
Pick out the stitched rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies that cuts out a 3-3/8" x 4-3/4" rectangle. Place the die on top of the large rectangle of Snail Mail Designer Paper on the platform of your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered. Run through the machine. Keep the rectangle with a rectangle cut out of it for use on this project. You can use the cut out rectangle of designer paper as your scrap for cutting out the designer paper circle in a later step or keep it to use on another project.
Use Fine-Tip Glue Pen or Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the rectangle of designer paper with the rectangle cut out of it over the stamped and colored circle of donkeys rectangle as a frame.
Adhere the framed circle of donkeys rectangle to the front of the Real Red card.
Pick out the smooth circle die from the Layering Circles Dies that cuts out a circle that is 1-7/8" diameter. Place the die on top of the scrap of Snail Mail Designer Paper on the platform of your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Adhere the designer paper circle cut out to the front of the card so it is centered in the rough circle formed by the donkeys' ears and heads. Make sure the hearts on the paper are right side up.
As you are ready to stamp using the Heartfelt Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp
Mount the "Love You Lots" sentiment from the Heartfelt Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it near one end of the strip of Real Red Cardstock leaving room to punch it out.
Unlock the 1-1/2" Circle Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment circle punch out to the center of the designer paper circle on the card front.
Cut a 16" piece of the Blushing Bride Twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack.
Fold the twine in half. Tie a small bow in the center of the folded twine. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the twine bow at a slight angle to the bottom right side of the matted sentiment circles.
