P retty card to say hello using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and doily pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer and Paper Snips:
- card from Highland Heather Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Blackberry Bliss Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Mossy Meadow Cardstock
- 1-7/8" x 3-7/8" from Blackberry Bliss Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 3-7/8" from Highland Heather Cardstock
- 2-3/4" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- half a Pearlized Doily
Insert the Mossy Meadow rectangle into the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder so that about 2" of the cardstock hangs out the bottom of the folder. Place the folder with the cardstock inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
Adhere the dry embossed Mossy Meadow Cardstock to the large Blackberry Bliss rectangle and then to the front of the Highland Heather card. Make sure the smooth bottom of the Mossy Meadow rectangle is on the bottom of the card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Climbing Orchid Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Be sure to put a piece of paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the "hello" sentiment from the Climbing Orchid Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper left corner of the strip of Highland Heather Cardstock.
Mount the long, single stem image from the Climbing Orchid Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it on the Highland Heather strip so that the bottom of the stem just goes off the bottom edge of the cardstock at about 1-1/2" in from the left side and the stem is angled to the right.
Mount the smaller, veined leaf image from the Climbing Orchid Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it on the Highland Heather strip so it comes off the stamped stem on the left side near the bottom with the leaf pointing to the left.
Place the stamped Highland Heather strip on some Grid Paper on your work surface. Make sure nothing else is near by that you don't want to splatter ink on.
If you haven't already done so, fill an Aqua Painter with water.
Shake the bottle of Frost White Shimmer Paint while the lid is on tight. Remove the lid and place it on some Grid Paper on your work surface open end up. Dip the brush tip of the Aqua Painter into the lid to pick up some of the Shimmer Paint. Give the Aqua Painter a gentle squeeze to get some water flowing into the brush tip.
Hold the inky, watery tip of the Aqua Painter over the stamped Highland Heather strip and give it a couple of hard flicks with your finger to make the shimmery water splatter onto the cardstock. Repeat until you have all the splatters you want, moving the brush around over the cardstock.
Use a clean tissue or paper towel to blot up excess water. Set the cardstock aside to let it dry.
Mount the large veined orchid flower image from the Climbing Orchid Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Highland Heather Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the large white square.
Pick out the large orchid framelit from the Orchid Builder Framelits. Place the stamped orchid image on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the framelit on top so it is centered over the stamped image. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Squeeze the lid of the Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Pick up some ink from the lid using the Blender Pen. Scribble on the Grid Paper a bit to get the color light. Then, draw some lines radiating out from the center of the orchid about half way along each petal. Get more ink on the Blender Pen as needed. Add a few darker lines at the end.
Tip: Stroke the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the cardstock could start to pill and tear. Scribble on Grid Paper to clean the tip of the Blender Pen until no more color is coming off.
Mount the large, solid orchid flower center image on Block A. Ink it up with the Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper, then WITHOUT re-inking stamp it in the center of the small square of white cardstock.
Mount the large flower center details image on Block A. Ink it up with the Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad. Stamp it on top of the previously stamped flower center image.
Pick out the large flower center image framelit from the Orchid Builder Framelits. Place the stamped flower center image on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the framelit on top so it is centered over the stamped image. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
If the Highland Heather strip is dry, adhere it to the Blackberry Bliss strip.
If you haven't already done so, use Paper Snips to cut a Pearlized Doily in half. Adhere one half to the back of the matted Highland Heather strip so it sticks out from the top left side. Put the other half away to use on a future project.
Adhere the matted Highland Heather strip and doily half to the front of the card so the bottom of the matted strip is about 1/2" from the bottom of the card.
Adhere the large orchid cut out to the front of the card at an angle on the right side of the Highland Heather strip. Make sure the top of the stem is covered by the flower and that none of the petals stick off the sides of the card.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the flower center cut out to the center of the orchid.
