D ecorated mini egg cartons for Easter using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 1-1/4" x 3-1/4" of rows of different colored tiny tulips in rows in field design from Flowering Fields 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper. cut so the tulips are vertical on the horizontal strip
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" of more solid colored design of choice from Flowering Fields 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 1-1/2" x 4" from Basic White Cardstock (if making Easter bunny box)
- 2-1/4" x 3" from Crumb Cake Cardstock (if making windmill box)
Put 12 drops of Pacific Point Ink Refill into an empty Stampin' Spritzer. Fill the rest of the spritzer up with 1/2 water and 1/2 rubbing alcohol. Give it a good shake to mix the color into the water/alcohol mix.
Close a mini egg carton. Place it on top of some folded paper towels on your cleared off work surface. Make sure you have plenty of space to work in so you don't accidentally spray color on something you don't want to get inky.
Start spraying the inky water/alcohol mix onto the closed egg carton until you have the color coverage you want. You might need to refill the Stampin' Spritzer a time or two. Set aside to allow to dry.
Tip: This can be very messy, so you might want to wear latex gloves to keep ink off your hands.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut a fringe along the entire long, top edge of the tiny tulips in a rows in field designer paper strip. Also use the Paper Snips Scissors to lightly round the bottom left and right corners of the fringed strip.
Pick out the long, curving row of detailed tulips die from the Tulips Dies. Put it on top of the more solid designer paper strip on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick and the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip to remove the pieces.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess designer paper on the edges so you have a strip of detailed tulips cut out about 3-1/4" long.
If making the Easter Bunny box, unlock the Ladybug Builder Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide one end of the vertical white strip into the punch and get it centered in the ladybug body punching area. Punch. Keep both pieces!
If making the Easter Bunny box, unlock the Daisy Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the other end of the previously punched vertical white strip into the punch and get it centered so you'll punch out two complete petals and part of the center of the flower. You'll also punch out the bottoms of two other petals, that's fine. Punch.
If making the Easter Bunny box, use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the antennae off the head of the ladybug body punch out. Also use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off the extra bottom bits of the petals from the partial daisy flower punch out so you have two complete petals and part of the center of the flower.
If making the Easter Bunny box, adhere the cut down petals punch out to the back of the top of the ladybug body punch as ears for the bunny. Bend down the top of one of the ears.
If making the windmill box, as you are ready to stamp using the Tulip Fields Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
If making the windmill box, mount the windmill image from the Tulip Fields Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Crumb Cake rectangle.
If making the windmill box, pick out the matching, small windmill die from the Windmill Fields Dies. Put it on top of the stamped windmill on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
If your mini egg carton is dry, proceed to the next step. You can use the Heat Tool to speed up drying if you want.
Mount the "Happy Easter" sentiment from the Celebrating You Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Pacific Point Ink Pad. Open the mini egg carton and put your fingers against the inside of the lid in the upper right corner. Stamp the sentiment in the upper right corner pushing firmly against the lid being supported by your fingers.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the back, bottom edge of the fringed designer paper strip. Remove the protective backing and adhere the strip to the bottom edge of the stamped box lid. Fluff the fringe away from the box lid using your fingers.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the back, bottom edge of the detailed tulips designer paper cut out strip. Remove the protective backing and adhere the detailed tulips strip to the box lid so it is tucked under the top of the fringed designer paper strip so the tops of the tulips just appear over the top of the fringe.
If making the Easter Bunny box, put strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the bunny punch art piece. Remove the protective backings and adhere the bunny punch art to the box lid so it is just to the left of the sentiment and his bottom is nestled into the fringed designer paper strip.
If making the Easter Bunny box, use Paper Snips Scissors to cut a cotton ball down to size. Put a circular glob of Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the bunny punch art bottom. Adhere the cotton ball piece to the glue.
If making the windmill box, put strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the windmill cut out. Remove the protective strips and adhere the windmill cut out to the box lid so it is just to the left of the sentiment and the base is nestled into the top of the fringed designer paper strip.
Fill your box with treats and give away!
