H ello everyone! It's summertime once again! I spent the begining of my vacation at the beach and came home inspired to create some sea theamed cards. This week's blog is one of them. The High Tide stamp set and the Under the Sea framelits worked perfectly together to create this card. Take a look at how I put this one together.
Project Recipe
As I said, this card was inspired by my trip to the beach this week. For this one, it was particularly the photo I took of the seagull on the wood pilons wrapped with rope. I was thinking about designing it for a few days till I got home. I love the soft colors of a foggy coastline, and the blues of the ocean, with just a little pop of color with the coral of the starfish and the sea grass. I am really happy with the final card!
Let's get started, you will need the following:
Pool Party Card Stock cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" , score at 4 1/4" and fold.
Wood Textures DSP-1 at 1" x 3" and 1" x 1 1/2".
Water Color Paper-1 at 2 1/2" x 4", and 1 at 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".
Tranquil Textures DSP, (the blue and green wavy lines)-1 at 2 1/2" x 4".
Crumb Cake- 1 at 4" x 4".
Small scrap pieces of Old Olive, Pear Pizazz, Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand & Calypso Coral.
Start with the water color paper, tear it along the 4" legnth so it has a ragged top.
Do the same with the DSP and tear the 4" legnth along the pattern of the paper. Make sure the paper pattern is horizontal so it looks like waves.
Take the 2 pieces of Wood Textures DSP and round off the corners on what will be the top. I used the Envelope Punch Board, beacuse it works great for rounding corners as well as making custom envelopes. Next put a couple of bits of TearTape on both sides near the top and wrap the jute twine around it 4 or 5 times sticking it to the tape to stay in place.
Using the Crumb Cake paper, and the net die from the Under the Sea framelits set, cut out a net , then crumple it up. Open it up and it looks more like a net.
Now cut out all your little pieces from the Under the Sea framelits. Cut the 2 small sand dollars out of Sahara Sand. Keep the center stars too. Use a dauber and some Crumb cake ink, and put a bit of color around the edges and on the center star, then put them back together. The center of the big sand dollar makes a perfect starfish. Cut out one in Calypso Coral. Then use the 3 green card stocks and cut out the sewead, one each color. Now take them and fold in 3 making it look more like tall grass and stick them together at the bottom with glue dots.
Put together the card starting with the base. Take the Water Color Paper and the DSP that you tore and layer them as shown. The tears at the top look like waves crashing. Adhere them both to the base card. Now to make the sea spray, use the stamp from the Magical Mermaid set. Stamp in versamark ink, dust with White Embossing Powder and set with the heat gun.
Use Bermuda Bay to stamp the sentiment on Watercolor Paper and tear all the sides around it. Put Demensionals on the back.
Stamp the flying birds in Granite Gray in the sky, leaving room for the sentiment. Arrange the wood pilons as shown. Double stack the Dimensionals on the back so they are higher than the twine wrapped around them and attach. Next place the grass as shown using Glue Dots. Arrange the net on top of everything as you like also using Glue Dots. Finally, add your 2 sand dollars and the starfish as shown. Add the sentiment and you are done.
I like to add something to the Envelope as well, so I stamped some sand and birds in one corner to match. Hope you enjoy this card!
Happy Stampin'!
