Project Recipe
Do you ever feel like you have tons of DSP papers that are old or about to retire and you haven't even used them yet? You want all the new stuff in the up coming catalog, but you have a budget! No worries! You can always use retiring papers with new stamp sets. In fact, sometimes they suit a set better than you would imagin! This week's blog I am purposely using retired papers with this adorable new Animal Outing set! With 3 cards I hope you see how versitile this set is! So start saving your pennies! This set is a must have from the new catalog!
The Rhino card was a fun card to make 'cause I love to color! I used a piece of the Inside the Lines DSP. It is a jungle scene and it just works! I hand colored it and the Rhino(and froggy) with Stampin' Blends pens, used the leaves from the Petals and More thinlets, and used a retired punch for the sentiment. On a base of Old Olive card stock and a black highlight, I think it made a cute card!
The Kangaroo and Koala is perfect for a baby card! I chose a piece of the Petals and Paisley DSP for this one, and used the Mint Macaroon paper, because it is a returning color with our Color Revamp in the new 2018 catalog. So even though this paper is retired, it will work really well with our new palate. I stamped directly on Very Vanilla card stock, added a bit of the DSP on the left and also used some Mint Macaroon ribbon for an embellishment. Hand colored once again with Stampin Blends, this is a simple and sweet baby card.
For the Giraffe card I used a paper from one of my all time favorite sets, the retired Painted Autumn DSP. The multi colored leaves on one side, and orange spotted on the other, it naturally coordinates together. I use Old Olive for the base and added some Copper trim ribbon for embellishment. I used the oval Stitched framelet to stamp the Giraffes on, and also used the branch stamp to make them loook like they were in the trees. I colored them with, you guessed it, Stampin Blends. (Yes they are my preferred coloring pen!) I also used a Agua Painter to create the sky with Pool party ink. I then I used dimensionals to have the oval and sentiment stand out more.
