T he translucent florals stamp set has such beautiful images, I wanted to create a not-so-flowery sympathy card. This fun fold has extra fun because you can decide which way to fold it. I also used embossing paste for the first time. You wouldn't have to, but I highly recommend it as it is so fun! I chose to add a ribbon embellishment only, but you could easily tie the ribbon the other direction as a belly band.
Project Recipe
This is trifold card that can have either flap forward.
Card Base: Cut a piece of pretty peacock cardstock 7.5 x 11" and score at 4 1/4" like you would a standard card. Flip it over so the short side opens.
Using the dies from the translucent florals set, die cut out leaf pieces from a spare scrap. This will be your mask for your embossing.
Place the mask over the left card flap (Pretty peacock, 3 1/2 x 4 1/4" folded)) and using a spatula, scrape embossing paste over the openings in the mask. Be sure to hold the mask tightly while scraping in the embossing paste. Remove the mask. Set aside to dry.
Inside: Cut a piece of basic white 4 x 5 1/4". Stamp a sentiment and/or leaves in gray granite or lost lagoon. I use the sentiment from the Nature's Prints stamp set.
Card flap: Cut a piece of lost lagoon 4 1/2 x 4 1/4". Score at one inch, so the finished piece when folded is 3 1/2" x 4 1/4". Adhere this behind the white piece inside the card.
Cut a piece of basic white or use the deckled rectangles dies to get a white rectangle roughly 1 3/4 x 3". Cut a piece of pretty peacock or use a deckled rectangle die to get a piece of pretty peacock that is 2 1/2" x 3 3/4". Stamp "Thinking of you" sentiment and leaves in pretty peacock on white cardstock and matte on peacock. If desired, add a ribbon embellishment..
Cut a piece of vellum or use deckled rectangles to get a rectangle roughly 2 1/2 x 3 3/4". Stamp leave images in pretty peacock and/or gray granite and sent aside to dry.
Stamp and die cut the leave stem in pretty peacock. Attach the vellum to the card front with the adhesive in the center. Attach the die cut leaf stem over the top, hiding the adhesive behind the vellum.
All you have left to do is decide which flap you want to put on the front!
