B irthday card for a nature lover using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Pecan Pie Cardstock
- 4" x 5-1/4" of Pecan Pie grid paper design from Nature's Sweetness 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 3" x 4" from Pecan Pie Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 2-1/4" x 3-3/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 3/4" x 3" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 6-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-3/4" square from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-3/4" square from Mossy Meadow Cardstock
Adhere the piece of brown grid Nature's Sweetness Specialty Designer Paper to the center of the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Pecan Pie rectangle.
Pick out the long, skinny die with three sets of three holes from the Notes Of Nature Dies. Put it on top of the left edge of the vertical 3" x 4" Pecan Pie rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is right along the left edge and it will cut three holes out of the top and three holes out of the bottom. Run through the machine.
Fold along the long score line created on the left side of the rectangle (just to the right of the holes) so the large flap will lift open like a book cover.
Cut two 3-1/2" pieces of the Gold 1/8" Faux Leather Trim.
Weave the two pieces of faux leather trim through the holes in the side of the cut Pecan Pie rectangle so you can tie them together with a knot in the center. Adhere the other ends to the back of the Pecan Pie rectangle using tiny pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive. Make sure the Tear & Tape does NOT go over the score line. Leave the protective backings in place. Tie the faux leather trim on the front of the rectangle together with a knot and trim the ends.
Mount the "field notes" image from the Notes Of Nature Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Pecan Pie Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper left corner of one of the vertical 2-1/4" x 3-3/4" vanilla rectangles.
Mount the grid paper image from the Notes Of Nature Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Pecan Pie Ink Pad. Stamp once on Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it on the bottom of the previously stamped rectangle. Repeat, remembering to stamp off first, until you've covered the bottom of the rectangle with the grid image.
Mount the splatters image from the Notes Of Nature Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp once on Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it randomly onto the top half of the stamped, vertical white rectangle. Stamp randomly all over the rectangle remembering to re-ink and stamp off each time. Let some of the images go off the edges.
Adhere the stamped rectangle to the center of the large flap on the right side of the "notebook."
Mount an inside sentiment on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the remaining vertical vanilla rectangle.
Pick out the long, skinny, solid leaf sprig die from the Notes Of Nature Dies. Put it on top of the 1-1/2" x 6-1/4" Old Olive rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick as needed to remove the pieces.
Cut the long, skinny leaf sprig cut out apart so the top piece is 3-1/2" long. Keep both pieces.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two cut pieces of the long, skinny leaf sprig to the front of the "notebook" so they overlap each other a bit on the right side as shown. Let some of the leaves go over the top and right edges of the "notebook," but make sure NO adhesive goes over the edges.
Pick out the largest, next largest, medium, and small solid detailed leaf sprig dies from the Notes Of Nature Dies. Put them on top of the Old Olive square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick as needed to remove the pieces. Leave the dies out.
Put the largest, next largest, and medium solid detailed leaf sprig dies on top of the Mossy Meadow square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick as needed to remove the pieces.
Find the largest Mossy Meadow leaf sprig cut out. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere it to the front of the "notebook" on the lower right side so it overlaps the other leaf sprigs a bit as shown. Let some of the leaves hang over the right edge of the "notebook," but make sure NO adhesive goes over the edge.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the 3/4" x 3" Old Olive strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch.
Mount the "today is all about you Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Notes Of Nature Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Copper Clay Ink Pad. Stamp it on the punched Old Olive strip as close as possible to the left edge with the left edge being straight and the punched edge on the right.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the punched sentiment strip to the front of the "notebook" as shown so the left, straight edge is even with the score line on the left side of the "notebook" and it covers the bottoms of the leaf sprigs. The punched edge should stick out to the right side. Make sure NO adhesive goes over the right edge of the "notebook."
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the birthday inside sentiment stamped vanilla rectangle at an angle in the center of the designer paper/cardstock rectangle. WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the "notebook" over the top to make sure it fits and will cover the vanilla rectangle. Carefully remove the "notebook," but leave the sentiment rectangle in place.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to carefully adhere the remaining leaf sprigs in place as shown so the ends are tucked under the sentiment vanilla rectangle.
Now, adhere the sentiment vanilla rectangle in place so it covers the ends of the sprigs.
Remove the protective backings from the faux leather trim on the back of the "notebook" spine. Add more little bits of Tear & Tape to the back of the "notebook" spine. Make sure NO adhesive goes over the score line.
Adhere the "notebook" in place so it covers the inside sentiment rectangle. Make sure the "notebook" cover will open so the recipient can lift it to see the inside sentiment.
