A birthday card I created for a small swap I participate in using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Pineapple Punch Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 3" x 8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 4" from Pineapple Punch Cardstock
- 3/4" x 4" from Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock
Fill a Stampin' Spritzer about half full with rubbing alcohol. Add about 12 drops of Pineapple Punch Classic Stampin' Ink Refill. Fill the Spritzer the rest of the way with water. Shake well.
Fill another Stampin' Spritzer about half full with rubbing alcohol. Add about 6 drops of Lemon Lime Twist Classic Stampin' Ink Refill. Fill the Spritzer the rest of the way with water. Shake well.
Put some paper towels on your work surface to protect it and make sure nothing is too close to the work area so that it doesn't get ruined by stray spray. Place the 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of white cardstock on the prepared work surface.
Spritz the top half of the white rectangle with the Pineapple Punch Stampin' Spritzer.
Spritz the top half of the already spritzed white rectangle with the Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Spritzer.
If you have ink mixture still in your Stampin' Spritzers, you can label the tube with the color used and save it for use on a later project.
To clean the Spritzers, thoroughly rinse out and spritz some water through it until all the water comes out clear. Allow the Spritzer to air dry.
Squeeze the lid of the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed.
Squeeze the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush into the puddle of ink in the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad lid. Swirl the glittery fluid into the ink puddle. Get some colored glittery fluid on the brush of the Wink of Stella and hold it over the spritzed white rectangle. Flick the end of the Wink of Stella brush to make drops of glittery fluid splatter onto the cardstock. Repeat until you have the coverage you want along the top half of the spritzed cardstock. Get more glittery fluid on the brush as needed. Vary the height at which you hold the brush over the cardstock to get different sized splatters.
Tip: Use a clean paper towel, tissue, or wet wipe to wipe up the glittery puddle in the pad lid so that you don't transfer glitter to the ink pad when you close the lid.
Tip: If you have a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush that is drying up, add some water to the base to re-invigorate it. A brush with water added is perfect for this technique.
Set the piece of spritzed and splattered cardstock to the side to allow it to dry thoroughly.
Mount the whole lemon image from the Lemon Zest Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Pineapple Punch Ink Pad. BEFORE stamping the image, do a little thumping! Take the cap off the brush tip of the Lemon Lime Twist Marker. Randomly thump the brush tip of the marker around on the inked up image quite a few times. Breathe on the image to moisten the ink and stamp it on one end of the 3" x 8" strip of Whisper White Cardstock. Clean the stamp using Stampin' Mist and the Stampin' Scrub, but leave it on the block.
Tip: To make it easier to punch in a later step, try to stamp the whole lemon image with the narrower point of the lemon on the bottom.
Repeat by inking up the whole lemon image with the Pineapple Punch Ink Pad and thumping on it with the Lemon Lime Twist Marker before stamping it on the strip of white cardstock just to the side of the first stamped image. Leave a little room between the images so you can punch them out in a later step. Clean the stamp, but leave it on the block.
Tip: To make it easier to punch in a later step, try to stamp the whole lemon image with the narrower point of the lemon on the bottom.
Ink up the whole lemon image with the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad. Stamp it on the strip of white cardstock just to the side of the second stamped image. Leave a little room between the images so you can punch them out in a later step. Re-ink the stamp with the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad. Stamp it on the strip of white cardstock on the end. Leave a little room between the images so you can punch them out in a later step.
Tip: To make it easier to punch in a later step, try to stamp the whole lemon image with the narrower point of the lemon on the bottom.
Unlock the Lemon Builder Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide one of the stamped lemon images into the punch. Carefully line up the image so it is centered in the punching area. Make sure you aren't going to punch any of the other lemon with the leaves. Punch. Repeat with the other lemon images.
Mount the citrus slice image from the Lemon Zest Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Pineapple Punch Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the 2-1/4" x 8" strip of Whisper White Cardstock. Re-ink the stamp with the Pineapple Punch Ink Pad and stamp it again just to the side of the first image. Leave a little room between the images so you can punch them out in a later step. Clean the stamp using Stampin' Mist and the Stampin' Scrub, but leave it on the block.
Ink up the citrus slice image with the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad. Stamp it on the white strip just to the side of the second image Re-ink the stamp with the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad and stamp it again one the end of the strip. Leave a little room between the images so you can punch them out in a later step.
Unlock the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide one of the stamped citrus slice images into the punch. Carefully line up the image so it is centered in the punching area. Punch. Repeat with the other citrus slice images.
Unlock the Banner Triple Punch. Slide the strip of Pineapple Punch Cardstock into the punch as far as it will go. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Hold the Banner Triple Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide one end of the strip of Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock into the punch as far as it will go. Get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Mount the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Lemon Zest Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the strip as close to the notch as possible so that the notch is on the left side.
Adhere the punched strip of Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock to the back of the punched and stamped strip of Pineapple Punch Cardstock so the Lemon Lime Twist strip is centered in the notch and shows about 1/4".
Cut a 6" piece of Lemon Lime Twist 1/4" Ombre Ribbon.
Wrap the ribbon around the right end of the stamped, punched, and layered sentiment strip close to the end of the sentiment. Tie in place using a knot. Trim the ends.
If the spritzed and splattered white rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying using a Heat Tool if desired.
Put a line of SNAIL Adhesive across the bottom of the spritzed and splattered white rectangle. Adhere the whole lemon punch outs to the strip so they cover the entire bottom edge of the white rectangle and overlap each other. They will hang off the bottom and left and right edges of the white layer.
Adhere the citrus slice punch outs to the white rectangle so they tuck under the whole lemon punch outs and overlap each other a bit. They will hang over the left and right edges of the white rectangle a bit.
Adhere the stamped, punched, and layered sentiment strip with the ribbon tied on it to the upper right side of the spritzed and splattered white rectangle so it is just above the line of citrus slice punch outs and the right end of the strip hangs over the right side a bit.
Use Paper Snips to trim off excess cardstock on the bottom and left and right sides of the spritzed and splattered white rectangle.
Adhere the spritzed and splattered white rectangle with all punch outs attached to the large Lemon Lime Twist rectangle and then to the front of the Pineapple Punch card.
Carefully peel up a large, frosted droplet from a sheet of Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the upper part of the whole lemon punch out on the bottom left side of the card.
