Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Crushed Curry Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 5-1/4" of small, light gray fleur-de-lis on dark gray background design from Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper, cut so the fleur-de-lis are in vertical lines
- 2-1/2" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" from Crushed Curry Cardstock
- 1-1/8" x 2-1/8" from Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets
Place the large white rectangle on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image when you stamp with the photopolymer Star of Light stamp.
Mount the swirl of stars image from the Star of Light Set on Block I. Ink it up with the Crushed Curry Ink Pad. Stamp it on the right side of the large white rectangle so that the big swirl at the top is in the upper right corner as close to the top and right edges as possible.
Mount the "be" sentiment from the Happy Wishes Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad and stamp it on the large white rectangle so it overlaps the bottom of the star swirl on the right side just a bit and is about 1-3/4" in from the left side.
Adhere the strip of Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper to the left side of the stamped large white rectangle. Make sure the tiny fleur-de-lis images are pointing up.
Carefully peel up the protective backing on one side of the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet piece and adhere the adhesive sheet to one side of the small Crushed Curry strip. Leave the other protective backing piece in place.
Place the piece of Crushed Curry Cardstock on the Precision Base Plate on top of the Platform on the Big Shot so that the adhesive side (with protective backing in place) is on the bottom (Crushed Curry facing up).
Pick out the "you" thinlit from the Celebrate You Thinlits. Place it on top of the cardstock on the Big Shot. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot a couple of times. Use the Die Brush to remove the pieces.
Peel the protective backing off of the word cut out. Adhere it to the large, stamped white rectangle just below the stamped word "be" and about 1/4" in from the right side.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the Basic Gray 1/4" Ribbon from the Shimmer Ribbon Pack so that one end is sharply angled.
Lay the ribbon across the bottom of the cardstock/designer paper rectangle so it is just below the word "you" and the angled edge is on the right not quite touching the right side of the cardstock. Flip the cardstock over and fold the flat end of the ribbon over. Adhere the flat end of the ribbon in place with a piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive. Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the loose, angled end to the cardstock below the word "you."
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strip and add more SNAIL to the back of the cardstock. Adhere it to the front of the Crushed Curry card.
Mount the wizard image from the Magical Day Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Whisper White square.
Pick out the wizard framelit from the Magical Mates Framelits. Place the stamped wizard on a Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the wizard framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Tip: I like to cut out images using framelits before I color them. That way, if the framelit slips during the cutting process and messes up the image, I haven't wasted time coloring it!
Use the Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil to scribble lightly on the wizard's robe, sleeves, and hat. Use the Blender Pen to smooth out the lines and move the color around. Add more color with the Watercolor Pencil as desired. Remember to stroke the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the card stock could start to pill and tear. Scribble on Grid Paper to clean the tip of the Blender Pen until no more color is coming off.
Touch the tip of the cleaned Blender Pen to the tip of the Calypso Coral Watercolor Pencil to pick up a tiny amount of color. Use this to color in the wizard's face and hands. Get more color on the Blender Pen as needed by touching the tip to the tip of the Watercolor Pencil. Remember to stroke the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the card stock could start to pill and tear. Scribble on Grid Paper to clean the tip of the Blender Pen until no more color is coming off.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored wizard cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the top of the ribbon and the right side of the designer paper strip just a bit. Try to position it so the word "be" appears to be coming out of the wizard's outstretched hand.
